Today is something called Thanksgiving Day - whatever that means.  But I could tell right off that it was a special day.  First, my human-dad didn't leave today.  He stayed in his bed until I started whining to go outside.  So he got up and let us outside.  Our human-mom got up too, and this was strange... she started cooking right away.  She had a HUGE BIRD and she was making it ready for the oven.  Now - when he is home my human-dad lets me follow him around.  I get into things and he scolds me when I do something he doesn't like, and he pets me and calls me a good dog when I do something right.  Sometimes I get treats too.  I am so lucky, Daisy doesn't get opportunities like that.

Pretty soon the house got to smelling really really good.  I could hear all the other dogs in the house too.  They knew it was a special day, and they were just as excited as I was.  Grandma Quiver told us that the humans do this every year, and that our dinner would be extra-special great today.  Uncle Justin just kept saying one word.  Turkey.  What's Turkey?  Sometimes I just don't get Uncle Justin.  Anyway - our human-mom cooked all day, and the house smelled better and better.  We got to go outside to play, but when I was outside I stayed by the door so I could sniff the good smells.  When I was inside, I stayed close to my human-dad.  He always slips me little treats.  Today was no different.

About dark some human-visitors showed up.  And I got put in my bed.  DARN!  Just when it was getting interesting I always get sent to bed.  The humans were telling stories and laughing.  I wanted to be out there too, so I started barking.  They told me to be quiet.  DARN!  After a while I could tell they were having dinner.  It smelled great.  When dinner was over they let us outside for a while.  I watched through the window while my human-mom and dad cleaned things up in the kitchen.  Then they let us inside.  There were lots of humans, and they were all so nice to us.  Our human-mom slipped little bits of goodies to me and Daisy.  Then a human named Reiner got on the floor and played with us.  It was great fun.  My human-dad put Daisy and I to bed to rest after that, then the human-visitors left.  Then I heard our human-mom making our dog-dinners.  It sure was taking a long time tonight!  But was it ever worth the wait.  It was the very best dinner I ever tasted.  Turkey is super-great.  The food was so juicy and tasty.

I like Thanksgiving.
